Brigadier General Johnson Orefin has assumed duty as the new Commander of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Garrison. He took over from Major General H O Otiki at a brief ceremony held Thursday, 2nd August 2018, at the DHQ Garrison complex in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.
Speaking during the formal handing and taking over ceremony, Brig Gen Johnson Orefin appreciated his predecessor for the monumental achievements recordedby the DHQ Garrison under his watch as Commander.
He urged the officers and men to accord him same support and cooperation given to his predecessor to enable him actualize the vision of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin which is to ensure a well-motivated, trained and equipped Armed Forces of Nigeria.
In his farewell speech, the outgoing Commander, Maj Gen Otiki thanked both the officers and men of the Unit for the high sense of commitment and understanding exhibited by the personnel throughout his tenure. He however, urged them to extend the same supports to his successor.
Maj Gen Otiki, who isnow the new Commander, Nigerian Army (NA) Infantry Corps Jaji, Kaduna, congratulated the new Commander on his appointment,and advised him to sustain the existing relationship with the other commanders of thethree-services within the Cantonment so as to ensure security of lives and properties.
Until his recent appointment, Brig Gen Orefin was Director of Joint Studies at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, jaji.
