DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS DECORATE RECENTLY PROMOTED BRIGADIER GENERALS COMMODORES

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has decorated 5 Colonels, 2 Navy Captains and one female Lieutenant Commander with their new ranks of Brigadier General, Commodore and Commander. The elevation of the officers, who currently serve at DHQ, was sequel to recent ratification by the Armed Forces of Nigeria Council after the senior officers faced respective promotion boards of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Airforce.

Amongst the newly promoted Brigadier Generals decorated is the Acting Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, who was decorated alongside Brigadier Generals Yakubu Sakaba, Audu Mbafung, Ochoge Attah and Magaji Inuwa, while the newly decorated Commodores are Commodore Innocent Ngatuwa, and Commodore Chukwuma Anakwe. Commander Bolanle Sunday, a female senior officer was also decorated at the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, while congratulating the newly promoted senior officers, noted that their promotion was well deserved, given their diligence and commitment to assigned duties over the years.

Speaking on the current security challenges, the CDS who was represented by the Chief of Defence Administration, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman charged the newly promoted senior officers to ensure they execute the responsibilities of their new ranks and offices in pursuit of a lasting solution to the security challenges bedeviling the nation. He urged them to add more vigour to the ongoing joint internal security operations across the country.

Speaking further, the CDS reiterated the unalloyed loyalty of officers and men of the AFN to the President and Commander in Chief. This, he said was not negotiable. He also expressed appreciation to the spouses of the newly promoted senior officers for keeping the home-front, while their husbands served the nation. The occasion was attended by DHQ Departmental Chiefs and Directors, as well as relations and well-wishers of the newly promoted senior officers.
