ACTING DDI VISITS SERVICE SPOKESPERSONS  … CALLS FOR SYNERGY

The newly appointed Acting Director Defence Information (DDI) Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu has paid a familiarization visit to the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Director of Information, Nigerian Navy and the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force. The visit which took place today Friday 1st March 2019, aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Acting DDI and the Service spokespersons.

Colonel Nwachukwu, in his remarks during the visits noted that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is engaged in the conduct of several operations across the country as a result of diverse security challenges confronting the nation. He disclosed that these operational engagements have brought the military under public scrutiny and therefore require robust and effective information management in support of the ongoing operations.

Describing his visit as an avenue to rub minds and interface with the Service’s spokespersons with a view to strengthening the Armed Forces’ Public perception and reputation index, the Defence Spokesman called on his colleagues to prioritize capacity development, training and re-training of Public Relations and Information personnel in conformity with global best practices in contemporary information management.

In his response, the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR) Colonel Sagir Musa assured the Acting DDI of his co-operation in his new assignment, noting that the visit was a positive effort to harness the communication potentials between the DDI and DAPR.

At the Naval Headquarters, the Director of Information Commodore Suleiman Dahun noted that information management is critical to the restoration of peace and security, hence, he expressed delight that the DDI considered it a priority to close the gap among Service Spokespersons.

In the same vein, the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola congratulated the Acting DDI on his appointment. He pointed out, that the responsibility of information management in the Armed Forces requires effective collaboration and urged the DDI to always play a unifying role by carrying the Service Spokespersons along in order to present a common front in the management of the Armed Forces Public Relations strategies.
