CDS HOSTS STUDENTS OF LOYOLA JESUIT COLLEGE

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin today played host to 77 students of Loyola Jesuit College who visited the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) as part of their study and excursion tour to military establishments and institutions within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to the management of the college, the study tour was aimed at broadening the knowledge and horizon of the students on the structure and operational activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.  The study tour also sought to sensitize and encourage students who aspire to pursue a career in the Nigerian military in the future.

The CDS enjoined the students to seize the opportunity provided by their visit, to acquaint themselves with career opportunities available to them in the Nigerian military and prepare themselves to take up leadership positions within the prospects of the profession.

Gen Olonisakin, who was represented by the Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation, Rear Admiral Obed Ngalabak said, “It is patriotic to serve your nation and it is a very noble act to serve in the Nigerian military.”

In her response, the leader of the Jesuit college delegation, Reverend Sister Maureen Odinese noted that the visit had indeed educated the students on the structures and operations of the Nigerian Mililitary. She expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the students and staff, adding that it is an indication of the Defence Headquarters’ value for the future for youths of the Nigerian nation.

The students later proceeded on a tour of some military establishments and institutions, among which are the Armed Forces of Nigeria Radio Service and the Armed Forces Electrical and Mechatronics Engineering Workshop.
