CHIEF DEFENCE SPACE AGENCY TO COLLABORATE WITH ARMED FORCES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE

The Chief of Defence Space Agency (CDSA) Air Vice Marshal Victor Udoh promised to collaborate and foster working relationship with Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji. The Chief disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant AFCSC in his office recently.

While stating the purpose of his visit, the CDSA said he was in the College to discuss on the area of possible collaboration between the Defence Space Agency and the College. He further explained that the objective of setting up the Defence Space Agency (DSA) was to implement the National Space Policy (NSP) of 2001. The policy created the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) which coordinate the affairs of space agency in the country. The Nigerian military are always in collaboration with the space agency to support their exercises and other Military operations. He cited the example of the space Agency’s role in the fight against insurgency in the North East where early-warning rockets were launched and which contributed in the current victory against Boko Haram terrorists.

In his remarks, the Commandant AFCSC Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Abubakar Dambo welcomed the CDSA and congratulated him on his appointment as the first Chief of Defence Space Agency. He said the issue of collaboration is a welcome development, saying that the College will inculcate the idea in its curriculum with a view of educating its personnel on Space management, especially at this time when the country is facing security challenges. AVM Udoh was accompanied by his Principal Staff Officers of the Agency during the visit.
