The Director-General NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned Corps members against misconduct. He gave this warning on Thursday while talking to Corps members deployed to Lagos State for the 2019 Batch “B” (Stream One) service year at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
He emphatically drew the attention of female Corps members on the need to uphold their dignity and be good ambassadors of the Scheme and their parents. The NYSC boss appealed to the Corps Members to be guided by the NYSC Act and avoid actions that can endanger their lives. He also urged them to embrace Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme of the Scheme adding that it will make them creators of wealth.
He hinted that Lagos State Skills Acquisition centre is available to train Corps Members on different vocations, adding that the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Centres in Gombe and Ekiti States would be replicated in other zones across the country.
“Please don’t embark on unauthorized journey. Be focused, disciplined, be security conscious, study the security tips we gave you and wherever you are posted to, locate and interact with the Police post and Army barracks among others”, Ibrahim said.
While interacting with NYSC Officials in camp, the Director General appealed to them to be disciplined in the discharge of their duties, and uphold loyalty to the NYSC Scheme.
Brigadier General Ibrahim equally warned the officials to desist from extorting money and/of other forms of gratification from the Corps Members, promising that efforts are in the pipeline to further enhance staff welfare.
