In a bid to further enhance successful operations in the fight against Boko Haram Terrorist, the French Government has pledged to work with the Nigerian Military to improve human capacities and develop operational capability.
The Commander of French Forces in Senegal, Brigadier General Pascal Facon gave this assurance when he paid courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin in his office at Defence Headquarters, Abuja. The visit was in furtherance of the French Government’s bilateral cooperation with the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Stating the reason for the visit, the Comd said it was aimed at charting the ways for the two countries to work together to develop a long-term military cooperation in the area of training courses for the Nigerian military. The visit was also embarked to create an opportunity for the French Government to develop a full spectrum of operational cooperation and maritime securities.
Welcoming the French delegate on behalf of the CDS, Major General Barry Ndiomu acknowledged the efforts of the French government at assisting the Nigeria military operations in the fight against terrorist and confirmed the fact that Nigerian Armed Forces have a lot to benefit from the French Armed Forces.
It would be recalled that a couple of weeks ago, the delegates from French Directorates of Military Intelligence and another from International Relations and Strategy of the French Ministry of Defence visited the CDS to further intensify intelligence gathering and sharing between the two countries. This is geared towards increasing and strengthening the existing cooperation between France and Nigeria.
