A delegation from the India National Defence Collage has commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, for leading the Nigerian Armed forces to victory over Boko Haram terrorists in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
The leader of the delegation, Major General MVC Nair, gave the commendation when the team visited the Defence Headquarters, Abuja as part of their world geo-strategic tour.
Major General Nair stated that the team’s choice of Nigeria is to enable them understand the position and the future prospects of Nigeria’s military stability and prosperity. He assured the CDS that in view of the long standing cordial relationship between the two great nations, India is ever ready to assist Nigeria to overcome its security challenges through capacity building training, information sharing and provision of equipment’s on request.
In his response, the CDS representative, Air Vice Marshal Bashir Saidu noted that India and Nigeria have benefitted from many exchange programs, information and intelligence Sharing. He expressed satisfaction with the existing mutual military cooperation. The team was therefore briefed about the organisation and current operations being carried out by the DHQ. The delegation is comprised of senior military officers and a few number of civilian participants.
