SENIOR COURSE 38 CONCLUDES NIGERIAN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY TOUR  

 

   The students of Senior Course 38 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, (AFCSC) Jaji, recently embarked on a 7day tour to 9 states of the federation. The tour involved 200 student officers who visited Bauchi, Delta, FCT, Imo Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kwara and Plateau state.

The theme of the tour “Repositioning Nigeria’s Non-Oil Sector as a Major Source of Revenue”, was aimed at giving the students the opportunity of gaining  firsthand knowledge of specific socio-cultural, economic, security and ecological problems in the various states visited. The tour also enabled the students to carry out on the spot study, research and provide workable solutions to the identified problems to states visited. However, the excursion also afforded foreign students the opportunity to know the country and compare notes with what is obtained in their home countries.

The Commandant AFCSC Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Abubakar Dambo who led the Katsina state syndicate was received by the Deputy Governor who represented the Governor of the state Aliyu Bello Masari. In his remarks at the reception Masari stated that the theme of the tour was apt and tallied with his administration’s policy. To this end he said his state was currently renovating and upgrading the Agro allied infrastructure, particularly the state fertilizer plant.On security, Governor Bello Masari, thanked the military for its support on fighting insurgency and cattle rustling in the state.

Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Dambo stated that the student officers were expected to conduct research into the extent of the efforts by Katsina state at improving and ensuring stability towards economic development, observe challenges and proffer workable solutions. He added that copies of the concluded research findings would be forwarded to the state.
